Fearless Defenders

It's a sad day today as it has been announced that Fearless Defenders will be coming to an end with issue 12. It's especially sad because of the outpouring of love the book received at New York Comic Con. With so many fans telling us how they love the book.
But even with the news, I refuse to be downtrodden because I truely believe we created something that we can be proud of.
Fearless Defenders will be looked back upon in ten years as so many peoples first and favourite book. I think it opened up a world of comics to a lot of people and the proof was in how many fans told me last weekend that it was their first ever comic book.

I have never met more loyal, and genuinely nice people in the fans that came by last week, the huge numbers that turned out for the many signings over the year and of course the people that queued for hours for the books launch in Dublin.

For both Cullen, Ellie and I, it was so great to be a part of the cosplay photo shoot at NYCC. A personal favourite of mine was when two of the Annabelles returned later to my table as new friends, before they hunted for an Indiana Jones to get a photo with.

And on that point, to me, Fearless Defenders ends up being the story of Annabelle. A character who will always be very close to my heart. I truly believe that she will now be a part of the Marvel universe forever. Both her and Ren have big places to go. I can't wait to see what other creators do with them.

Of course, it goes with out saying that it was a pleasure working with the entire team. Ellie, Cullen, Vero, Mark, Stephanie, Phil and Clayton.

But again, this one goes out to the fans. Thank you for your support. It really means a lot. On the boards, on twitter, on tumblr (special shout out to S/D and Miss Jay)

Remember, we still have a couple of great issues to come out too. So I gotta get back to the drawing board.
