Adam and Joe Go Tokyo

...Without the Adam and Joe that is.

Heres the inks to the second in a run of covers I've done for Dargos Lament.
Currently Im having a blast working away in Japan. Took the weekend off drawing so I could head up to Tokyo to finally see Studio Ghiblis museum, something I've wanted to do for years! The most impressive thing, without a doubt was the building itself and the random dots of Miyazakis influence all over the place. I would have liked to have seen sooo soo much more. I understand his philosophy of bringing other exhibitions to Japan through his museum, but i would have much rathered a lot more on his works than the mini louvre exhibition they had on. Still though, The laputa robot and cube were kickass and I had no idea that I was gonna see an original Miyazaki movie there (Hoshi o Katta Hi).

Desho Neh!!

Speak of the Devil

Actually, I just checked the Boom site and that cover I was talking about previously is up online... And already sold out apparently!!

New York Aftermath

So New York has come and gone and as usual its been a blast. Big Irish contingent there this year as well as the usual group of foreign drinkmates. Was great to meet the guys at Boom who are working on Farscape too and it seemed like there was a huge buzz around the Boom booth all weekend where everytime I walked passed it seemed like the books were flying off the shelves. Was really happy with how the Holofoil cover came out too, it printed really well.
Speaking of hollowfoil the next in the series of three which I did the covers for was announced at cbr here
http://comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=20061
Its gonna be out at Wondercon which I wont be making unfortunatly this time but Keith DeCandido (who I had the pleasure of meeting at the NY con) will be there all weekend.
Here are the Inks for it anyways

If this prints half as well as the first one I'll be a happy camper. I cant wait to get my hands on all three of them once they're all out. Emerald City is where the third will be unleashed.
Also out at the con was the Challengers cover for Farscape issue 2. I havent seen a pic of this on the net yet but once I do I'll post up the inks
Other than that right now Im working away on Farscape.... in Japan!!! surrounded by you guessed it, Japanese people. Its been a real crazy few days sampling the Japanese culture, landscape and the amazing food (something I never thought I'd be saying).
Right, back to drawing aliens

New York Comic Con

Hey guys, Have a con exclusive coming out next week at the New York. Have my bags packed and am ready to fly over myself with a fairly big Irish contingent so its gonna be a lot of fun. Messers Mooney and Shalvey from the Micks will be there aswell as a few others. If last year was anything to go by a lot of time will be spent in the bars... or at a petrol station beside the bar waiting for it to open (ah the memories Dec)
Anyways, back to Farscape, I cant wait to get my hands on this and see what it looks like in person. Here are the inks for it aswell as a youtube video Boom Posted to show the Holofoil effect.
In other Farscape news, Strange Deteractors is going well and I'll also be doing covers for Farscape D'Argos Lament which comes around the same time as SD

St Hendrix

Heres a shock, something thats not to do with comics. Might be doing a few illustrations for a local pub as the new manager is redesigning the place into a music bar. The current decor for the place is like a church so I was thinking a series of famous musicians around the place would be a lot of fun and look really cool. Gonna colour thins using photos of stained glass so it looks like a real stained glass window itself

Im an Astronaut

Heyhey all, im back in Ireland after a great year in Toronto, was obviously sad to leave the place but I came home for christmas which is always a good time to travel home.
Looks like my next stop on the road will be Japan which Im quite excited about. Thinking of heading there for a month to draw some more Farscape after the New York comic con. Probobly will be back in Ireland for the launch of issue one of Strange Detractors.
Anyways heres a sketch of the main man himself John Crichton. I really wanna nail the likenesses for this run as thats what the farscape fans on the boards I've been lurking on want the most.
And as much as I love the gritty textured art of say Leinil Yu, im gonna try and go the more Adam Hughes, Ryan Sook type route and get it down with the least amount of lines possible.

Merry Frelling christmas

So I can finally announce that Im gonna be drawing for Boom Studios on Farscape. Taking over on the fifth issue, which will be issue one of the Strange Detractors arc.
Details are here
http://www.tfaw.com/Profile/Farscape%3A-Strange-Detractors-1___339007

Im feckin delighted to be working on Farscape, I've been always fan of it back to its BBC days and used to watch it with my buddy Baz back when I was living in Cork so its cool to be contributing to the universe.
And to those of you who are into Farscape, its written by Rockne O'Bannon the series creator and Farscape Novelist Keith DeCandido so its being seen as "season 5" of the show, and its gonna tie in directly to the upcoming webisode.

Superman/Batman

Every year myself and Dec do a Superman Batman drawing at christmas time and will continue to do so until we inevitably end up hating each other due to jealousy over some woman or something like that. The first one we did was three years ago and its hilarious to see the difference in the standard of it. I missing the scan of one of the years. Once I find it I'll post up the progression
